Mapping Bothy
1st Year, 2021
The purpose of The Mapping Bothy is to bring the unexpected and surprise to those that journey to it. It has a rough exterior of stone and this keeps the link between other Bothy’s which are spread throughout the Highlands. The exterior contrasts with the interior of curved shapes and modern like appearance bringing distant scenery in through the maps of the surrounding hills. This would be an attraction for lovers of hill walking and biking to shelter from the weather and settle for the night. The location of the Bothy is Lochan Uaine, Aviemore or better known as the Green Lochan. This spot was purposely chosen to allow adventure seeking people to leave the rigours of daily life behind and embrace a chilled out, carefree existence surrounded by the Cairngorm mountains.

Final Design Bored
The Mapping bothy is all based round the ideas and design of a map. Especially the contour lines that represent differing gradients of hills. I choose to develop on this idea after sketching the contour lines and the pattern that was created really intrigued me. Then further developing this into a wall that you could interact with and see how hills are represented on maps but in 3D form.
